I’ve been busy!

I really love all the colors that I’ve done recently, and I’ll be adding 4 new listings of fiber, hopefully by Tuesday! I’m waiting patiently for them to be fully dry, then I’ll get nice photos up and have them listed here on the Shop page. These are all punta* combed top, and definitely felt-able! Here is a quickie photo of the fibers, hanging to dry:

top-bottom: Citrine, Mojito, Ocean, Amethyst

I had fun trying different method on each piece, and it was interesting to see how they each turned out! Hope you enjoy spinning these as much as I did dyeing them!

*‘Punta’ is a name given to a blend of medium fine wools from South America, with counts in the 60’s, and similar to average merino.

Sumner Arts Festival! August 4, 2009

Filed under: absolute jeanius,etsy,falkland,fiber,guild,handdyed,handyed — jeanius80 @ 5:31 pm

I am so excited to share this with you! The Moonspinners Guild received an invitation to participate in the Sumner Arts Festival this year. We can spin, crochet, knit, weave, and sell our wares in our allocated spot.

Why am I excited? Because I will be bringing my fibers with me and have them available for purchase, in person. I will also be bringing my Babe wheel, and keeping my daughter entertained while enjoying the weather on Friday. If there is anything not sold after Friday, I will also be there Saturday, until 2 pm. The etsy shop will put in Vacation Mode until Monday.

We will be at the Ryan House, which is located at Sumner ave and Main Street, near where the Car Exhibit will be. (Map page link). Come by, say hello, support local artist! It runs from 10:00am to 9:00pm on Friday and from 10:00am to 7:00pm on Saturday.

Filed under: handdyed,handpaintedyarn,handspun,koigu,malabrigo,swap,yarn — jeanius80 @ 4:06 pm

Man, has it been a long time since I shared good yarn! Here is some handspun yarns (spun by me, you can see specs on my ravelry handspun stash page).

And some purchased and traded yarn p0rn
First, sme lovely, soft handspun, handdyed yarn in “Beet” from Foxyie:

Handdyed sock yarn from Miss Babs in “Watermelon” with a little heel/toe skein to match:

Koigu KPPPM, two skeins in a rainbow! From my LYS:

and the following yarns were traded for on ravelry (top to bottom) Artfibers Bitty Buns in color “6”, two of them, Malabrigo in “Red Java”, and handpaintedyarns.com merino lace (850 yards) in (I believe) “Cactus Flower”.

spinning is dangerous February 16, 2008

Since i knitted so furiously this last weekend, my right thumb has been sore, so i decided to spin instead 🙂
First, I (finally) plied the tan/khaki superwash. I now have a nice skein of 2 ply, probably enough for fingerless mitts or a hat! a full bobbin (so 4 ounces aran/heavy worsted)

Then I decided to finish spinning the lovely alpaca/superwash merino i received as a sample from my LYS, Lambs Ear in Tacoma. This stuff drafted beautifully, has a lovely heathered color and did i mention it has alpaca? *heaven* about 20 yards

Lastly, I decided to dig out my silk hankies i dyed last year (using food color pastes). It was fun poking holes and stretching it out. Took almost no effort on my part. about 105 yards, 18-20 grams

Except, later I noticed the damage on my fingers! Yikes. Tiny blisters on my right pointer, bruising on my left thumb, and a superficial slice along my left pointer. WOW. But it is puuuurdy stuff 😉

i finally did it! i opened up an etsy store. There are a bunch of indie dyers all over the internet though, so i don’t know how well it will do, or if it will even be sustainable. I might end up just selling directly through the blog. I’ll just have to wait and see.

you can see my shop here: absolute jeanius

right now, my pretty ‘Embers’ is up. Time to check the stash for more dyeable yarns…
